Cinerama Adventure

The documentary is about the projection process called Cinerama. It worked with three cameras and three projectors and carried the screen to an unusual width. That technique was decisive in cinema’s move into the widescreen era. The film shows how the process was put together and how it was used. Archive footage and interviews with people who worked at the time make up the spine of the account. The account stands in a nostalgic place, and that view is the film’s own. The film historian Kevin Brownlow is among those who speak. The ninety seven minutes are given to the history of a technique. The work also records the viewing habits of a period. David Strohmaier’s American documentary was completed in 2002.
