Confessions of an Invisible Girl

Tete starts at a new school and nobody notices her; invisible is her own word for it. Then she learns a popular girl's secret and suddenly becomes visible, except the price of visibility is not being herself. Bruno Garotti's Brazilian film follows the teen comedy template without straining it: class hierarchy at school, social media, a first crush and the popularity test. Its warmth is in Tete's relationship with her parents, who are support here rather than obstacle. Klara Castanho leads. It went out on Netflix and found a wide young audience in Brazil, which is precisely what it set out to do. Who it is for: viewers who like light teen comedy and Brazilian films for younger audiences. Who it is not for: anyone looking for something outside the formula, since the formula is followed exactly.
