Confetti Harvest

Katelijne grows up in a strict Protestant farming family. She is the only girl among six brothers. She is hardly brought into the work of the farm and is kept outside the daily conversation. So she takes refuge in her imagination: in Bible stories, in gossip, and in fairy tales she is not allowed to read. At her brother’s wedding she comes at her family with what she has read. That moment is the end of her childhood. The film tells the pressure inside a child without making fun of religious rule. What it means to be a girl in a country household is the real subject. The story is adapted from a novel. Hendrikje Nieuwerf and Yannick de Waal appear in Tallulah Hazekamp Schwab’s ninety three minute film, a joint Belgian and Dutch production, completed in 2014.
