What Core of the World Is About
Yegor is the vet at a training facility for hunting dogs somewhere far from anywhere. He treats the animals, cleans the kennels, keeps an eye on the workers, deals with clients, and lives alone in a small building beside the owner's house. Dogs come easier to him than people do. What he wants is close to impossible: to be taken into that family. Natalya Meshchaninova wrote the film with Stepan Devonin, her partner and its lead, and rather than explain Yegor's past she shows the shelter he has built out of avoiding it. It took the grand prize at the twenty ninth Kinotavr festival, where Devonin was also named best actor.
