What Crayon Shin-chan: My Moving Story! Cactus Large Attack! Is About
Masakazu Hashimoto's 2015 anime is one of the feature films in the Crayon Shin-chan series. The Nohara family moves to a town in Mexico for the father's work, where the residents welcome them with unexpected warmth and everything looks too good. It soon emerges that the cacti in the region come alive and attack people, and the reason for the move takes on another meaning. The film continues the humour of the series: Shin-chan's rudeness, his father's helplessness and his mother's anger. This instalment brings the theme of family ties forward and the final section turns sentimental in the usual way. The design of Mexico rests on clichés. The action is on a larger scale than the series. Who it's for: Shin-chan viewers and anyone who likes family animation. Who it's not for: adults unfamiliar with the series; the humour requires a certain habit.
