Daisy Town

A town is built overnight on an empty plain and within hours Daisy Town is full of guns, gambling and brawls. The town makes Lucky Luke sheriff to impose order. He takes the job and the Dalton brothers turn up. René Goscinny adapted Morris's comic hero in a Belgian and French co-production, the first Lucky Luke feature. The humour is built as direct parody of western conventions and the drawing stays faithful to the strip. Its best-known element is the close: the song Luke sings riding toward the sunset became the form in which the character is still remembered. Who it is for: viewers who like classic European comics and Lucky Luke. Who it is not for: anyone unable to overlook the period's depiction of Native people.
