Dangerous Charm

A well-educated, charming, courteous man, the sort a woman living alone might dream of. In fact he is an accomplished swindler: he robs trusting women and also targets merchants whose consciences are not clear. He keeps changing his name, stages his own death and moves from town to town. His exploits are past counting and his life has become an unending adventure. He is not entirely unlikeable, though; he is drawn as a man who never became an actor and has no aim beyond making his life interesting, and the comedy of the film comes out of the story this character tells himself. Ivan Andonov directed this Bulgarian production, with Todor Kolev in the lead and Nevena Kokanova and Tatyana Lolova in the cast. It runs eighty-seven minutes and dates from 1984.
