Dark Wind

In a village in difficulty because the climate has changed and the rain has stopped, there lives an old farmer who cannot see. His son is sunk in debt and a debt collector is coming to the village. To save his son, the old man makes an arrangement with the collector. The film presents the drought not as a background but as the thing that determines what people are able to do to one another. The weight of debt in the region and what it has cost farmers stands openly inside the account. The choice the old man makes brings him both a way out and a new burden. Sanjay Mishra and Ranvir Shorey appear in Nila Madhab Panda’s ninety nine minute Indian film, completed in 2017.
