Darkness and Light

A young woman comes home for the summer holidays. She is at university and she is seventeen. Her home is in the port of Keelung. The town lies outside Taipei. Her family runs a small business there. The woman meets a young man. Something starts between them. But the company he keeps is trouble. He has ties to a local gang. A fight over territory breaks out in the town. The young man is caught inside it. The account moves between family tables and the street. The time the two of them have together stays short. Lee Kang-i and Fan Wing take the leads, with Kao Meng-Chieh also in the cast, in Chang Tso-chi’s Taiwanese film of 1999.
