Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead

The sequel to a Norwegian zombie comedy. In the first film a group of students met Nazi zombies at a mountain cabin. This one starts where that ended: Martin, the only survivor, wakes in hospital and learns that the doctors have replaced his arm with the zombie commander's. The arm moves on its own and kills. What follows is pure excess: Martin learns to use the arm's power and raises his own army of zombies. A three-person team of zombie experts arrives from America, young people who gather their information online and think they are specialists. The method is to turn the genre entirely to comedy. The violence is not realistic but deliberately absurd, and the scenes compete with each other. The sequel was shot in English and made on a far larger scale than the first; the battle in the final section used hundreds of extras. Tommy Wirkola directed. An enjoyable example within its genre for anyone who likes black comedy and excessive zombie films. Before you watch, know this: the film recognises no limit on gore and some of the jokes are deliberately in bad taste.
