Deadpool 2

Deadpool 2 (2018) keeps the joke density of the first film and builds a story about family on top of it, and mostly manages to hold both. Wade Wilson falls apart after a loss. Then he meets Russell, a mistreated teenager who cannot control his power. Cable arrives from the future to kill the boy because of something he will do later. Wade assembles a team called X-Force to protect him. The recruitment section is the best part of the film and mocks the conventions of the genre directly. Julian Dennison, who plays Russell, is the boy from Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Director David Leitch also came from stunt work and co-directed the first John Wick, which is why the action here is so legible. A serious accident occurred during production. Joi Harris, a professional road racer performing motorcycle stunts, died on the Vancouver set in August 2017. It was her first film job. The film is dedicated to her in the credits. The post credits sequence is among the most talked about things in the series and uses time travel to undo several things. It runs 120 minutes. Good for: action comedy and superhero satire. Less good for: the violence is graphic, the language is constant, and it deals with the abuse of a child. Not for viewing with children.
