Different Fortunes

Four young people have just left school in Leningrad. They are Sonya, Styopa, Tanya and Fedya. Sonya loves Styopa. Styopa loves Tanya. Tanya chooses Fedya. Turned down, Styopa leaves the city for a far off Siberian town. He works at a factory there and studies in the evenings. Sonya follows him and takes a job at the same factory. Tanya and Fedya marry and both go on to higher study, with Fedya driving to bring money in. Tanya is not content with the modest life that leaves them. She takes up with an older composer. The film is about how four paths come apart. Tatyana Piletskaya, Yulian Panich, Lev Sverdlin and Tatyana Konyukhova appear in the hundred and one minute film, a Soviet production Leonid Lukov finished in 1956.
