Disclosure Day

Disclosure Day (2026) is Steven Spielberg's new film, and it is recent enough that no settled opinion exists yet. Bear in mind that the ratings rest on a small number of votes. It is a science fiction thriller. A cybersecurity specialist uncovers government secrets concerning extraterrestrial life and becomes a fugitive. At the same time a meteorologist experiencing strange phenomena is pulled into the same story. This is not a new vein for Spielberg. Close Encounters and War of the Worlds asked the same question in different keys: what does humanity do when it meets something larger than itself. The first answered with wonder, the second with panic. From the title alone this one appears to sit somewhere else, in secrecy and trust. The cast is strong: Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo. It runs 145 minutes. Good for: science fiction, conspiracy thrillers, and anyone following Spielberg's later work. Less good for: the film is very new, audience reaction is still unsettled, and the score may move. If you want a firm verdict, wait a few months.
