Don't Tell

The film sets out from a real case. Lyndal was sexually abused at eleven, at a long established school she attended. Years later she decides to go to law. A local lawyer takes the case, and a young associate and a barrister join the process. The case means standing against an institution and putting on the court record what was never spoken. The film does not stage the abuse; it tells the persistence and the legal process. What an institution does to avoid facing its own past is the real subject. The outcome of the case led to a change in the law. Sara West and Aden Young take the leads, with Jack Thompson and Rachel Griffiths also in the cast. Tori Garrett’s hundred and ten minute Australian film was completed in 2017.
