Doraemon: Nobita and the Space Heroes

Doraemon: Nobita and the Space Heroes, directed by Yoshihiro Osugi in his first directing credit on the franchise, opened on March 7, 2015, as the 35th feature film in the Doraemon series, marking its 35th anniversary. The film grossed approximately 3.93 billion yen (roughly 32.7 million dollars) in Japan, ranking fifth among domestic releases there in 2015. To mark the film, Doraemon's handprint was immortalized in a handprint gallery at Hibiya Chante, a first for a fictional character to receive that honor. Who it's for: anyone curious about a long running animated franchise's 35th anniversary entry, which ranked among the year's most watched Japanese films at the box office. Who it's not for: anyone looking for a special entry point into the series, since this film is designed as one installment in a long running franchise.
