What Doraemon: Nobita's Great Battle of the Mermaid King Is About
Nobita and his friends use Doraemon's gadgets to turn the garden into a sea, and there they meet Sofia, a mermaid princess. Her undersea kingdom is at war, and the only hope is a legendary sword from the planet Aqua. Nobita and the others descend into the ocean to find it. This is one of the annual Doraemon features. The formula is familiar: an adventure that opens with an everyday gadget, an unknown world, a kingdom under threat, and Nobita finding courage when it is least expected. This time the world is underwater and the design is built accordingly. Directed by Kōzō Kusuba. Who it's for: Children and families who follow the Doraemon series, and anyone who likes undersea animated adventure. Who it's not for: For adults new to the series the storytelling is simple and the direction predictable. The emotional pitch is set for young viewers.
