Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Sky Utopia

Takumi Doyama's 2023 anime is one of the Doraemon feature films. Nobita and his friends set off in an airship that can jump through time to look for a country in the sky where everyone is said to live happily. What they find really is perfect: nobody quarrels, nobody makes mistakes and everyone follows the rules. The second half questions how that perfection is maintained and leaves young viewers with a question that is not easy: is forcing people to be good a good thing. The friendship and adventure of the series are kept, but the idea underneath is heavier than an ordinary children's film. The visual design is built on the sky city and is meticulous. Who it's for: Doraemon viewers and anyone who likes family animation. Who it's not for: adults new to the series; the film does not introduce its characters.
