Paul Bisciglia P Pascale Priou C Christine Lefèvre D Denise Bourel What Dougal and the Blue Cat Is About
A blue cat named Buxton is found in the magic garden. Guided by a voice, the cat enters the ruins of an old sugar factory and, by naming the colours of seven doors correctly, is crowned king there. Buxton then throws all the dwellers of the garden into prison, with only one dog left outside, and steals a magic moustache as well. The film was made with the characters of a television series, animated by moving puppets one frame at a time. Inside an account addressed to children there is a surprisingly dark side. The play of colours and doors brings a children’s tale and a story about power together in the same account. Serge Danot’s eighty five minute French film was completed in 1970.
