The Legend of Hei 2

The balance between the spirit world and people is fragile and an attack breaks it. Hei grew up inside that order; a spirit who goes about in the shape of a cat and lives among people. His master Wuxian trained him. Now an organisation is targeted and the blame is put on one group. Hei meets another spirit; Luye is young, impatient and carrying a loss of his own. The two try to find who is behind it. Along the way they see that both sides have reasons. Gu Jie directs with MTJJ; the source is the series MTJJ created. It is a Chinese production and animated. The film opened in China on 18 July 2025 and took over seventy five million dollars worldwide. It was made by the Hanmu Chunhua studio. It went into distribution outside China as well, with separate arrangements for Southeast Asia, Japan and North America. The matter it treats is living together; spirits and people share the same city and the arrangement satisfies nobody entirely. The animation works in a two dimensional line and the movement in the fights is dense. The series was first published online in short episodes and won its audience there. The narrative gives context to anyone who has not seen the first film, but some links stay missing. Its limit is length; the narrative is long, there are many characters, and the middle scatters. Who it is for: viewers who like Chinese animation and fantasy action. Who it is not for: it is long, crowded, and the ending ties into what follows.
