Down to Earth

The documentary follows a family on a journey of five years. Rolf Winters and Renata Heinen set out with their three children. They left the usual order behind. The road begins in the woods of northern Michigan. There they meet a healer named Nowaten. What he tells them sets the direction of everything after. The family decides to look for others like him. They call these people the Keepers of the Earth. The search spreads across six continents. They live alongside indigenous communities on the way. The talk turns on how people stand towards the land. The film chooses listening over teaching, and rests on landscape and on faces, with the children growing up inside the journey. The eighty two minute documentary is a French production Rolf Winters and Renata Heinen finished in 2016.
