The documentary follows the fashion designer Dries Van Noten. For the first time he lets a filmmaker in. The shooting takes a year. Reiner Holzemer follows him step by step. Four collections are made in that year. The rich fabrics are part of what marks the designs. Long work goes into the embroidery and the prints. The patterns belong to his designs alone. Then come the shows. His presentations at Paris Fashion Week draw large crowds. The camera goes into the workroom as well, and into his house and daily life. Van Noten has stayed independent for more than twenty five years, while the trade around him consolidated. Reiner Holzemer directed the ninety minute documentary, a Belgian production finished in 2017.
