The documentary is about Dzi Croquettes, the dance and theatre group founded in Brazil at the start of the seventies. The all male group went on stage in sequins under the censorship and violence of the military dictatorship and built a stage language that was neither male nor female; they were banned and interrogated but did not give it up. When Liza Minnelli saw them and took them up, doors opened and the group went to Europe. The film also tells of the final years: tension, personal rivalries, AIDS and the killing of one of the members broke the group apart. The hundred and ten minute Brazilian documentary by Raphael Alvarez and Tatiana Issa was built from archive footage and testimony; it was completed in 2009.
