Earth from Above: Stunning Water

This production is made of images shot from the air. The images were gathered by Yann Arthus-Bertrand. Over years he flew above a great many countries. The subject of this part is water. Rivers, lakes, seas and glaciers pass by. Seen from above water looks like another thing altogether. Coastlines turn into patterns. Human settlement appears at the edge of the water. Fields and irrigation channels come into view. The film does not build a story. There is almost no speech and no commentary. Image and music run together. The point is to leave the viewer time to look. Bernard Giraudeau provides the narration in the sixty seven minute film, a French production Renaud Delourme finished in 2004.
