Eldorado

Yvan is in his forties, bad-tempered, alone, and sells cars. One night he finds a burglar in his house: Elie, young and entirely out of options. Instead of calling the police he decides to drop him in town, changes his mind, and ends up driving the boy home to his parents in an old Chevrolet. The road runs through Wallonia, and the people they meet on it get stranger as they go. Bouli Lanners wrote it, directed it and plays Yvan. Empty roads, wide frames, not much talking: the shape of an American road movie transplanted into the Belgian countryside. Even where it is funny there is something sad underneath it.
