What Elephant Is About
Bartek is a young man who runs a small farm by himself in the Podhale region and looks after his lonely mother; his life is pressed between the barn, the horses and the eyes of the village. When he meets Dawid, who comes back after years to see his family, first a closeness and then a desire Bartek has long suppressed comes about. The village is small, and the mother, afraid of losing her son, turns that fear into pressure. The film presents the relationship neither as a hidden crime nor as a statement; the question of whether the two will stay is left standing. Jan Hrynkiewicz and Paweł Tomaszewski appear in Kamil Krawczycki’s ninety four minute Polish film.
