What Euridice BA 2037 Is About
Eurydice waits in the flat coded BA 2037 for Orpheus to come and lead her out of the underworld. What she is actually waiting for is less a rescuer than a permit: the order that will authorise her to move. As she deals with the endless bureaucracy of a removals company, her fears, her desires, her memories and her hallucinations begin filling the room, and a computer voice tells her to leave without ever saying where she is to go. Nikos Nikolaidis’s first feature is a Greek and West German co-production, black and white and underground throughout. It showed at Thessaloniki in 1975 and took six years to reach ordinary cinemas.
