A man out of the underworld, a small time grifter known all the same for his hardness, mutters and comments endlessly on the system, on society, on the police and on the underworld itself; he carries a bird with him everywhere. He falls in with an odd company: a young songwriter, a woman saving money to open a bookshop, another whose reckoning with her dead mother is not finished, and his former girlfriend who works in a bar. All five end up in the middle of an affair that takes in the media, the mob, politicians and the police, and all they want is to get out of the city. The film is interested less in defining its characters than in letting them talk. Yiannis Angelakas plays the lead in Nikos Nikolaidis’s hundred and twenty minute Greek film, completed in 2002.
