Eva Perón

The film tells the life of Eva Perón. She was an actress nobody knew when she married Juan Perón, the president of Argentina. After that she became one of the most powerful figures in the country. The account follows that rise and her relation to power. She died in 1952, at the age of thirty three. The film neither makes a saint of her nor sets itself entirely against her. What it meant for a woman to stand that close to the centre of Argentine politics is the real subject. Esther Goris takes the lead, with Víctor Laplace also in the cast. Juan Carlos Desanzo’s hundred and twenty minute Argentine film was completed in 1996.
