The Long Way Home

The year is 1915. The Sarıkamış campaign is over. Snow has closed everything in eastern Anatolia. The roads are full of people fleeing the war. A woman called Gül Hanım and her daughter Nihan are on the road to Erzurum. An official is travelling with them as their guide. His name is Saci Efendi. The weather turns harder as they go. They reach an abandoned village in the end. It has been burned out. After the first night they realise they are not alone there, since others have taken shelter in it too, among them two wounded Ottoman soldiers. Eight people in all try to hold out against hunger and cold. Uğur Polat and Nergis Öztürk appear in the hundred and twelve minute film, a Turkish production Alphan Eşeli finished in 2013.
