Every Blessed Day

A film about a relationship, set in Rome. Guido works the night shift at a hotel. He knows Latin and Greek, reads old texts and writes poetry; he tells nobody. Antonia works at a car rental company and sings on stage at night. They live together. They decide to have a child and it does not happen. They go to a doctor, the tests begin and daily life gets tied to a calendar. What the film is interested in is not infertility but how a relationship changes once it is bound to a shared goal. Antonia gets cornered, Guido accepts everything quietly, and after a while that quiet becomes the problem itself. The register sits between comedy and drama. Family visits and scenes in the neighbourhood and at work bring the humour. Thony, who plays Antonia, is a musician and wrote and sang the songs herself; it is her first film role.
