What EXIT Is About
A young man out of work with no skill beyond his university climbing club is at his mother's birthday dinner when a poisonous gas spreads across the city. The only way out is up. The film joins the disaster narrative to climbing; the narrative uses building facades, roofs and cranes as its stage. The comic register is kept and the danger is taken seriously. Lee Sang-geun wrote and directed, with Cho Jung-seok and Yoona. It is a South Korean production. Who it's for: those who like disaster films and action comedy. Who it's not for: viewers afraid of heights; almost all of it takes place high up.
