Eyes of a Thief

Tareq is a water engineer. He comes out after ten years in an Israeli prison. He returns to his home town in Palestine. The place he left behind has changed a great deal. His wife has died. His daughter has been placed in an orphanage. Tareq sets out to find her. Everyone he meets is holding something back. His own past opens up slowly as well. Behind the film stands a real event. In 2002 ten Israelis were killed at a checkpoint in the West Bank. The story is not built as a tale of heroism. What is at its centre is a father looking for his daughter. The film was sent as the Palestinian entry for the Academy Awards. Khaled Abol Naga and Souad Massi appear in the hundred and three minute film, an Algerian, French and Palestinian production Najwa Najjar finished in 2014.
