What Falling Sky Is About
Reidar lives in a psychiatric institution. He believes a huge meteor is going to hit the Earth at any moment. Until that day he has a job to do: keeping Juni, another patient there, from harming herself. Something odd but real forms between the two of them. The film makes the institution neither a place of horror nor material for jokes. The account tells the illness through the relation between two people rather than in the language of diagnosis. Comedy and weight can stand side by side in the same scene. The eighty three minutes take place inside a single institution. Kristoffer Joner and Maria Bonnevie take the leads, with Kim Bodnia also in the cast. Gunnar Vikene’s film, a joint Danish and Norwegian production, was completed in 2002.
