What Fascism on a Thread: The Strange Story of Nazisploitation Cinema Is About
The documentary takes up a wave of films. The wave appeared in the seventies. Those films used Nazi camps as a backdrop. What they showed rested on shock rather than history. The productions were made fast and cheap. A number of them were made in Italy. A great many appeared in a short time. Both the audience and the outcry were large. The wave died out before the eighties. The documentary looks back on that period. It talks with the people who made those films. Sergio Garrone and Bruno Mattei are among them. The actress Dyanne Thorne gives her account too. Film historians have their say as well. Naomi Holwill directed the ninety one minute documentary. The American production was finished in 2019.
