Festival At The Poolroom

The story rests on twin brothers, Azriel and Gavriel. Azriel is shy and religious and works in a fruit shop in Jaffa. Gavriel is a good for nothing who runs a snooker hall and makes easy money with his friend Hanuka by drawing people into bets on the table. When Gavriel gets into trouble with a gangster he has to make contact again with the brother he has stayed away from for years, and the fact that the two look alike comes into play. Running in a comic vein much liked in the Israeli cinema of the seventies, the film tells two separate lives through one face. Yehuda Barkan appears in Boaz Davidson’s ninety five minute production, completed in 1975.
