What Fiction Is About

Alex is a shy, inward director. He is trying to finish his latest screenplay and it will not come. He leaves his wife and children for a few days and goes to the Pyrenees. What he is after is quiet and inspiration. In the town he goes to he meets Monica, a violinist on holiday at a friend’s house. Something begins between them. But they can neither say the feeling nor entirely put it down. The film brings the moments when nothing happens into the account as well. It is a story in which what goes unsaid weighs more than what is said. Eduard Fernández and Javier Cámara appear in Cesc Gay’s hundred and seven minute Spanish film, completed in 2006.
