What Finsterworld Is About

A web of stories set across one day in Germany, twelve people connected by family or by coincidence. Among them a pedicurist, a policeman, a teacher and a party of school students. They all live in a country where everyone appears polite, decent and content, and the film opens up what is underneath that surface one person at a time. Frauke Finsterwalder's first film, written with the novelist Christian Kracht. The title plays on the director's own surname, which means something like dark forest. It has chosen to be uncomfortable on purpose, and does not fit any category cleanly.
