What Forever Female Is About
Beatrice Page has been a star of Broadway for many years and will not accept that she has grown too old for ingénue parts. A young writer’s play, and the appearance of a young actress who genuinely fits that role, upset the balance both on stage and off, while her former husband, who produces her shows, is caught between the two of them. Irving Rapper’s ninety three minute Paramount production started from a play by J. M. Barrie, with a screenplay by Julius J. Epstein and Philip G. Epstein. Ginger Rogers plays Beatrice, William Holden the writer, Paul Douglas the producer and Pat Crowley the young actress. The film won a Golden Globe in 1954.
