What Future Shock! The Story of 2000AD Is About
2000 AD was the most contrary vein of British science fiction comics, and it came out of the banning of Action, Pat Mills’s previous title; they had worked out that under a science fiction cover they could get away with a great deal more. Paul Goodwin’s documentary follows the magazine’s rise and its bad patches from its founding to the present. Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog and Nemesis all came off those pages, and the comic changed the face of the international industry. Pat Mills, John Wagner, Alan Grant, Brian Bolland, Dave Gibbons, Grant Morrison, Neil Gaiman and Karl Urban are among those who speak. It premiered at Fantastic Fest on 21 September 2014.
