Gabrielle

Gabrielle is a woman in her twenties with Williams syndrome. She is one of the best voices in a choir and lives through music. Martin is in the same choir and the two of them are in love. But both families are uneasy about it, and Martin's mother starts keeping him away from rehearsals. Meanwhile Gabrielle wants to live on her own: her own flat, her own key, her own money. The choir is preparing for a large festival. She wants both to be on that stage and to have a life of her own. Louise Archambault directs the Canadian film; a hundred and four minutes. Gabrielle Marion-Rivard, who plays her, has Williams syndrome herself. A real choir sings in the choral scenes. It was Canada's entry for the foreign language film Oscar in 2014.
