What Garbo: The Spy Is About
The documentary tells of Juan Pujol García, a Catalan and one of the strangest spies of the Second World War. Pujol first got the Germans to accept him as an agent working in England, then began working for the British and for years sent the Germans reports from an invented network of agents, none of whom existed. What he supplied led the Germans, at the landings of 1944, to expect the main assault at the Pas-de-Calais rather than in Normandy. After the war he became the only person to be decorated by both the Allies and the Germans. Edmon Roch’s eighty eight minute Spanish documentary joins archive footage, testimony and fragments from films of the period; it was completed in 2009.
