Gentlemen in White Vests

Bruno Stiegler returns to Berlin as a boxing promoter. He comes from America and his past is murky. The boxing business is really a cover. With his men he plans a series of robberies. Each time someone gets there before him. Those people are elderly gentlemen from good circles. They have taken up crime in their retirement. A retired judge leads them. Herbert Zänker never managed to put Bruno away while in office. It still rankles with him. Zänker works with his friends and his sister. An informant lets them know each robbery in advance. Bruno finds his way blocked at every move. His nerve gives way and he makes a mistake. An inspector arrests him after that mistake. The film handles crime as comedy. Martin Held and Walter Giller appear in the ninety minute film, a German production Wolfgang Staudte finished in 1970.
