Girls About Town

Wanda and Marie live in New York. The two of them keep company with businessmen visiting the city. They are paid for the work. The men are mostly traders in from out of town. The evenings pass in places of entertainment. The clothes are expensive and the bills are open. One day a man called Jerry Chase comes into it. He needs to close a sale. For that he asks the two women for help. The business runs in the same way as always. But in the middle of it Wanda takes to someone. He is the sort of man she has been looking for. Wanda wants to leave this life. The decision turns out not to be as easy as it looks. Kay Francis and Lilyan Tashman take the leads, with Joel McCrea and Eugene Pallette also in the cast, in George Cukor’s American film of 1931.
