Glorious Days

Glorious Days is the official Indonesian remake of South Korea's 2011 hit Sunny, following members of a high school girl gang who reunite twenty three years after a falling out, prompted by one friend's serious illness. It opened to 161,104 admissions in its first weekend, landing at number two nationally, and finished its run with 513,521 admissions and roughly 20.5 billion Rupiah (about 1.44 million dollars) in revenue. Despite being a remake, its cast and soundtrack choices root it firmly in 1990s Indonesian nostalgia rather than just recycling the Korean original beat for beat. Who it's for: fans of Sunny's tearjerker formula curious about a local retelling, and anyone nostalgic for 90s Indonesian pop culture. Who it's not for: viewers expecting an original story rather than a scene by scene remake, since anyone who has seen Sunny will find few surprises here.
