Tsanko Petrov, a railway linesman, finds a large amount of money on the tracks and hands every note of it to the state without thinking twice. The ministry sees an opportunity, and Julia, its head of public relations, stages a ceremony declaring him a hero of the working class. Tsanko stammers, is frightened of the crowd, and is quietly mocked through the whole thing. The minister presents him with a new wristwatch, and in the process the old Slava watch he inherited from his father goes missing; the new one stops working almost immediately. What follows is his fight to get the watch back, which is to say his dignity. Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov direct. A film about Bulgarian bureaucracy that hurts exactly as much as it is funny.
