Grenfell: Uncovered

Olaide Sadiq's 2025 documentary deals with the fire that broke out in a London residential tower on 14 June 2017 and killed seventy-two people. The film is less about the fire itself than about the chain leading to it: the choice of cladding fitted to the building, gaps in regulation, decisions made on cost, and years of safety warnings from residents that went unanswered. It combines evidence from the public inquiry, investigative journalism, and testimony from survivors, bereaved families and firefighters. The director has a personal connection to the events, and the film's register is set by that closeness. How responsibility was distributed among institutions until no one carried it is the central subject. Who it's for: viewers who follow public safety, housing policy and institutional accountability. Who it's not for: anyone not emotionally ready for a recent disaster and the testimony of people who lost family.
