Gypo

The film is about a working class family in Margate, a town in England where immigrants have become the target of most of the public discontent. The story follows a few weeks that begin when Tash, a young Czech woman, comes to the house. The tension inside the home and the anger out in the street feed from the same source, and the film shows this not as an argument but through sentences said at the kitchen table. It was made under the rules of Dogme: no costumes, no lighting, no sets, which gives it a rough, close texture. Paul McGann and Pauline McLynn appear in Jan Dunn’s ninety eight minute British film, completed in 2005.
