Handsome Guys

Jae-pil and Sang-gu are brothers. They look frightening but both are entirely well-meaning. Their dream is a house in the woods, and at last they get one. On the day they move in, young people camping nearby take them for killers and try to run. At the same time an evil spirit sealed in the basement wakes up. The brothers have to deal with the misunderstanding and the real danger at once. Nam Dong-hyub's film is the Korean adaptation of the 2010 Canadian film Tucker and Dale vs. Evil. The narrative rests on inverting the shapes of horror: the audience knows who is dangerous and the characters do not. Lee Sung-min and Lee Hee-jun play the brothers and their rapport carries the film. It opened on 26 June 2024. Who it's for: Viewers who like Korean comedy, horror parody, and humour built on misunderstanding. Who it's not for: Nothing surprises anyone who has seen the original. When the horror elements take over in the second half the comedy fades too.
