What Harajuku Is About
On the evening before Christmas Eve, while Vilde is passing time with her friends at the central station, she learns that her mother has been in an accident. She is forced to make contact with the biological father she has kept away from, when the only thing she wants is to run away to Tokyo. The film sets the whole story inside a single night and moves between the girl’s wish to escape and what she is obliged to do. The account does not declare the father a villain, nor does it explain how the distance between them came about; it shows how hard it is for two people to stand in the same room after years. Ines Asserson plays the lead in Eirik Svensson’s eighty three minute Norwegian film, completed in 2018.
