What Heavenly Swallows Is About
Denise, a pupil at a convent school, discovers that Célestin, the organist who teaches her music, has a second life: he secretly composes operettas, and writes them for Corinne, his mistress on the stage. Célestin goes to town to see the première of his latest work, and Denise slips out of the convent and follows him. When Corinne quarrels with him and walks out, Denise takes the stage in her place under the name Mam’zelle Nitouche, and falls in love with a young soldier. Then the two of them are taken for deserters and carried off to a barracks, and everything tangles further. Andrei Mironov and Iya Ninidze appear in Leonid Kvinikhidze’s hundred and twenty six minute Soviet musical.
